The Words

The Words are creative pieces made from things that go beyond what happened. These could be short stories, musings, metaphors. No labels though; it’s all somewhere in the spectrum.

Morning Routine

“Good morning, the weather today is…” He opened his eyes. The light from between the curtains hit his face directly. “Good morning,” he whispered. Then, he let out a sigh. He looked at the ceiling as the speaker went on with the rest of the report. He kept staring at the ceiling. Some music began to play in the background. He tried to form a smile but gave up after holding it for a few seconds...

The Letter To Our Youth

I wonder how it will be when we’re thirty or forty or even seventy. I wonder what life will be when we’re all settled down. Some of us will have kids – families. Some of us will still be the same, just slightly more tired. I wonder what will happen to the most ironic generation on Earth. I wonder what will happen to us when we grow up, or maybe we have, and it will be the same – just more and...

It was a day like any other day, and there wasn’t anything very different about it. I leaned back in the somewhat comfortable chair as my gaze shifted to right outside the glass window. I started to stare at the random array of buildings sandwiched between the blue of the sky and the green of the trees. Like any other day, my earphones were plugged snugly into my ears.

A Commotion On The Bus

The bus had just started to cross Gurgaon. I sat on a seat by the window near the front exit of the bus. The harsh sunlight coming in through the window didn’t add to the comfort. The conductor stood near the door wearing a well-worn flat cap, his shaved head and the soft stubble of white hair showed peeked right below the side. His face was covered in a stubble too. Traffic made the bus slow...

The Five-Petaled Flower

One morning many winters ago, I decided to take a walk along a narrow path on a hilltop far away from home. It was cold, but the sun that had just begun to colour everything golden was endearing enough for me to walk up to the edge of the hill briskly. As I sat there, I noticed a five-petaled flower. A lot of grass surrounded the flower. The green spread across the hill only provided a spotlight...

Let Me Tell You The Story Of A Café

Let me tell you the story of a café. It is located right in the centre of the town where nothing ever happens. Strong masonry, wooden tables, logs, simple yet spectacularly cosy, casual yet oddly fancy. If you spend ten minutes inside, you’d feel like you were inside your favourite book or movie. That is if you have a thing for subtleties in the art you consume.

The Shoebox of Memories

When I was a somewhat younger version of the child I am today, I found an empty shoebox lying around in my cluttered house. Now as a child, I was filled with more sentiment than I was with logical thought and so I kept a rock in that shoebox. It was a small piece, but it was the start of an archive.

About The Content

There are three kinds of blog posts here as of mid-2019 – The Journal, The Words and The Nudge.

The Journals are thoughts, lessons, events that unfold in my life word-for-word and as barebones as I can put them out there.

The Words are creative pieces, narratives, short-stories that take from my life but did not happen word-for-word.

The Nudge has self-help articles that try to be less proud and self-righteous. They end in the nudge, which is a shareable takeaway that summarises the entire idea.

You can read more about this change here and here.

I write code by day and prose by night. I'd say I love coffee but don't we all? I find stories, people and experiences. I blog about them.
