I have always wanted to do a TEDx for some place I’m a part of and I always kept passing on the idea so when I heard TEDxAmityUniversity was happening and was asking for volunteers, I jumped right in. It was inspiring to see someone take up the task that I deemed too hard to even attempt.
I had the first interview. I was, quite literally, the first applicant. So much for enthusiasm. There I saw five people sitting in a congested office. Little did I know some of these people will become great acquaintances and friends over the next few months. There was Naman, Devieka, Yogesh and one more person whose name I can’t seem to recall – All I remember is that she’s the student’s in-charge for AMIMUN. (Amity University’s MUN wing)
I sat on one sofa, with my friend Tanishq on the other. Two people sat on each side and in the center was Dr. Alpana Kakkar, Deputy Director Student Welfare. The interview was good. I chose to be part of the Blogging team, it was one of my stronger suits. I hadn’t designed as much as a pixel since a year.
We started working in about two weeks from then and I met the blogging team. First up, there is Sanchi who is a classmate and a blogger. Second is Rishabh, an amazing and one of the most aware people I know who is working on his project iDishoom. Third is Srishti, another great writer. Fourth with Swathy, who contributes to Unveiled Infinities. Last, me, just a random blogger from Dehradun. I think we make a really good team despite the dearth of face to face meetings we’ve had so far.
The best part about this whole ordeal was the freedom the organisers gave us. A simple idea for a random funny video got realised in the most amazing way by Prateek, one of my best friends and Piyush, one of his best friends. The video fetched us a lot of attention. I covered the video along with a funny take on the most popular answers on the official blog here.
Day by day, we kept inching toward the finale, one day where it all comes to fruition and here we are at t-9 days to take off. The 29th of September is almost here and I really think we’ll pull this off. Overall, the team has been awesome so far and though not everything is perfect, everything is still just fine. Here’s to hope and taking up loads heavier than our shoulders.
