Before I took my first step into the world and outside my house I was taught many things such as patience, respect, honesty etc. and I pretty much forgot everything right after I entered into this competitive world. But this is what this world does to you. Sometimes you are so caught up into situations that you are forced to go against the very values and principles that define you. One of these principles that does not work in today’s world is Complete Honesty.
Every child is taught the merits of always telling the truth. But today’s world and society forbids us to not do so. Just think, wouldn’t you go for a white lie or two if you are sitting in a job interview and you know that the lie will help you clear through? Or maybe tell your teacher that your pet dog ate your homework while you know that you didn’t do it? You would obviously go for not telling the truth. It is a general saying, “To Hide One Lie, A Thousand Lies Are Needed”, but tell me while being one of the most selfish creatures of nature can we stop ourselves from lying just to hide our fault or our inefficiency?
The more shrewd this society gets, the less truthful the people will become and as all of us can see our society is not clear as glass. By saying/writing all these lines I don’t mean to tell you to stop telling the truth, because sometimes when you have lied enough, telling the truth helps you solve the problems you are into. But all that I wish to convey is that in today’s world where, I quote…
“Life is a Race, If you don’t run fast, you will be a Broken Andaa (Egg)”
Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe (Boman Irani) from the movie 3 Idiots
Sometimes, you will have to ignore principles like honesty just to get past few others running in the same race but always keep in mind that you should never ever forget these values because these are the only segments of your personality that cannot be restored once corrupted.

Well,Deepansh … i not only felt the way u explained but also implemented the idea of not being totally honest in order to win to many races of life…In fact I won many and till the time I realized , I had started being a little dishonest to myself as well, following the formula of ‘it is fair not to be totally honest’. The end result was horrible…Loads of people you see driving a BMW or working as President of big companies (not necessarily all or most) are not happy and content from inside. Money may not stop flowing in… but the excitement of being alive gets over if we indulge into dishonesty even a little bit. I may not be standing anywhere close to what I used to earn monthly 2 years back…. but now…i am happy that I am alive and I am happy that I enjoy…I am happy that I do not need to shy away while looking into anyone’s eye…U may achieve things a little late this way but its a guarantee that there is no discontentment and falling back ever again ! So plz do not part ways from complete honesty ! It is the only way to a permanent success contentment and achievement of lifetime!

Thank you for your comment.
And sharing your experience, it matters a lot.
But I would still have to disagree with you on the grounds of being Honest and Completely Honest. I still believe in the former i.e. being just Honest and a White Lie or two don’t bother me much.
Honesty is the best policy has become a kind of joke in today’s world .
very well written post
Seriously, it is a thing to be sad about. But life goes on, so we have to accept the present situations and adapt ourselves according to it.
and thank you for the appreciation.
